What Makes Speak Better Spanish Different?
N0n-Native Spanish Teacher
I’m a non-native Spanish speaker who has reached fluency, so I can understand all of your struggles and confusions because I have been through them too!
Many of my students say they learn best from non-native Spanish teachers because:
- Native Spanish speakers can be hard to understand even if they speak good English. Hannah doesn’t have a strong accent.
- I’m able to easily figure out what students are trying to say because I’m familiar with the lingo and sentence structures of both languages
- Non-native speakers are a little more empathetic to the process and speak a little slower.
What else is different, according to my students:
- The relatable conversation is what I truly enjoy, it isn’t “how to order from a restaurant” or “ask for directions”… I’m not learning Spanish as a traveler, I’m learning it to function in everyday life with my friends, so the stuff we talk about is what me and my friends would talk about so the vocabulary is sticking in my head better.
- With the interactive digital platform, I can hear and see the words that I’m stuck on. Also, the follow-up transcript email is the icing on the cake!!!
- The relaxed atmosphere didn’t feel like a classroom.
- No textbooks, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, or exams.
